Suffolk Family Carers’ Celebration Team Success !
St Edmundsbury Cathedral (motto) ‘Following in the footsteps of Edmund, King and Martyr’ was followed in the Family Carers’ Celebration Service held at the Cathedral 10 June 2008.
Family carers’ were welcomed by the Dean, the Very Reverend Neil Collings. And the Service emphasised the value of carers’ with music from The Choir of St Louis Catholic School directed by Caroline Dearing and and a group from the open access singing workshops directed by Tracy Sharp singing the African song Garai Parno and Alleluia by Johann Pachelbel which sounded so moving in the Cathedral, together with a mixture of hymns, songs poems by family carers’ with prayers.
Jacui Martin chief Executive, Suffolk Family Carers’ encouraged all present and the Patron of Suffolk Family Carers’ Joanna Lumley gave a much appreciated address..
The press radio and TV were present and Anglia TV summed up the situation well with the statement in their report extolling the value of carers “ knowing that someone like Joanna Lumley is on their side is surely a ‘fabulous’ thought.
