Remembrance service 9th November 2008

The War Memorial  on the Sea Front at Felixstowe Saw a moving Act of Remembrance take place commencing with the singing of the hymn O God our help in ages past.

Ken Martin Chaplain to the British Legion led the prayers. The Last Post, Silence, and the words spoken by Margaret Sparrow ‘ They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them. Nor years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.  Peter Brown repeated the words: When you go home, tell them of us and say ‘for your tomorrow we gave our today’  Wreaths were laid by local representatives and personal ‘in  remembrance’ crosses laid revealing the loss and sorrow caused by war

Reveille and the singing of the hymn  Now thank we all our God and Blessing brought to a conclusion a dignified and solemn act of Remembrance.
