Resembling "Soviet workers apartments"

The Planned Housing on the site that was supposed to be for recreation and leisure purposes have been described as resembling "Soviet workers apartments" Both the Felixstowe Society and the Suffolk Preservation Society are among those who have condemned the proposals

Two Conservation Groups have called for the Southern Felixstowe "regeneration " scheme to be rejected

The council has been inundated by over more than 200 objections from organisations and individuals  to the scheme. Concerns have been expressed about the density, insufficient affordable housing  the monolithic design of apartments and the effect on views of the Martello tower and was out of keeping with the Edwardian and Victorian character of the area.
