Will District Council  now thwart democratic procedure

Felixstowe Town Council Rejects Revised Building Application  Felixstowe South Sea Front

Felixstowe Town Council's recommendation to Suffolk District Council  was refusal for the new building application C05/1723/FUL. for the Felixstowe South Sea Front. Councillors with a declared interest left the meeting.

Popular Mayor Cyril Webb  was chairman and   permitted a public question time and many interesting valid points as to why the the scheme should be rejected were discussed. These included :

• Increased flood risk due to global warming ?
• whether finances were in hand to build the proposed fishtail groynes to protect the land ?
• the high maintenance cost to council tax payers,
• the real lack of benefit to tourism that was in the scheme,
• chaos and gridlock unless traffic problems addressed.
• the absolute right to light that some residents had obtained
• failure on many points to accord with the local plan.
• lack of affordable housing
• a poor return for the real value of the land.
• the cycle route that seemed to go nowhere.. and much more
