2008 Felixstowe’s Fate
Building Folly State Felixstowe 2008
Building Folly State Felixstowe 2008
22 March 2008 Saw high winds at Felixstowe with a fairly high tide producing spectacular seas once more flooding the gardens in Sea Road and causing those watching to question yet again the wisdom of the council plans to build houses on the flood plain on the south seafront.
The sea defence works have not yet commenced with the plans to building 21 fish tail T shape groynes to retain the shingle of a recharged beach.
Even if the defence work is successful the sight and power of the seas as seen today must surely produce doubt as to the wisdom of building of 158 houses on the land. To everyone observing the power and ferocity of the sea, the idea is completely mad.
