Churches Together In Felixstowe Unity Service
The Annual Unity Service of Churches Together in Felixstowe was held on 25 January 2009
The speaker was the Rt Revd Nigel Stock Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich with music by the Salvation Army Band and the Joint Churches Worship Band.
The Mayor of Felixstowe with civic dignitaries were present and hymns, prayers, bible readings, and reports were presented.
A new member church was welcomed called the Ranelagh Road Christian Fellowship and the Moderator interviewed and introduced a new worker amongst older people in Felixstowe (Paul Taylor) together with news from Parish nurse (Jane Pears} and Youth Worker (Adrian Wolton)
Paul Taylor recounted some of the events with the F.T.C.C.O.P. (Felixstowe Trust for the Christian Care of Older People. ) and Jane Pears made an appeal for volunteers from the churches to help in supporting those vulnerable people discharged from hospitals, to meet the need left by the Bartlet Convalescent Home Closure. Adrian Wolton explained the exciting plans to have a bus for the work with young people to be sited in various locations in Felixstowe and district on different days of the week. A retiring Offering was made to support this work to be called the ‘Boost’ Bus
