Felixstowe Prom awash again today 10 February 2009

Felixstowe Prom was again awash due to the high tide as these pictures show.

Walkers had to be careful not to get wet and the water was soon running under the flood gates as can be seen.

The land behind the wave wall acts as a soak away  so the water soon disperses.

Residents have received notification from the council that the proposed house building on the flood plain is to be raised from 4.5m to 5.02m  due to the flood risk.

Residents are  therefore concerned that the reduction of the soak away due to the building will in fact increase the flood risk to the  buildings and properties  currently in the area .
